Antique 1857 Ralph Waldo Emerson Old Book Great Men NR

Antique book by Ralph Waldo Emerson in good condition for the age, published in 1857 by Phillips, Sampson, and Company, Boston, entitled "Representative Men: Seven Lectures," with a brown blindstamped cloth hardcover and 285 pages.  Valued at $75-$100.

Contents include "Uses of Great Men," Plato, Swedenborg, Montaigne, Shakspeare, Napoleon, and Goethe.  Entirely well-bound and mostly clean throughout internally without apparent tears, folds, or markings except an old pencil mark price inside the front cover that reads $40, light spots of soiling/foxing typical from age, and a few page edges chipped where pages that had not been separated in production were attempted to be separated.  The cover and spine have edge and surface wear typical from shelving and handling, as shown, with slight curvature of the front cover, but otherwise overall in very nice readable and clean condition for being over 150 years old, especially internally.
