1/6 Plate Daguerreotype Handsome Young Man/Long Hair

A fine 1/6 plate daguerreotype image in an oval mat, though with no preserver, in leather case with lid firmly attached, depicting a handsome and very intense young man, perhaps not more than a teenager, with long fair hair and a steadfast gaze. The young man's 3/4 portrait shows him full face with a sloppily tied cravat. The oval mat with a pebbled surface may suggest an 1840s date to this possibly earlier daguerreotype.
