Up for auction is a Franklin Library Leather bound book of 3 Plays which won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
First play, " Death of a Salesman" by Arthur Miller won in 1949. The second play "J.B., by Archibald Macleish won in 1959 and the last play "A Delicate Balance", by Edward Albee won in 1967.
This special edition has been privately printed and bound exclusively for subscribers to the Franklin Library of Pulitzer Prize Classics Series
In front of the book is a "Special Message for Subscribers by the Editors". Give details about the book and also the author.
Genuine full leather blue covers with hubbed spine. Lovely satin bookmark, sewn in. Striking 22-karat gold lettering and design on the spine, front and back boards. Gold gilted page edges on all three sides for beauty and protection. Decorative marbled endpapers. Printed on acid-neutral paper for longevity and durability.
No previous owner's bookplates or names, the book's pages are perfect, I don't think the book was read or opened. The gilt on the pages is bright and a small mark on the side end pages. A bit of gold gilt is missing on the a in plays on the spine. The bindings are square and tight, overall, very good condition..
