NORTHWOOD GLASS COMPANY, DIAMOND POINT BASKET, MARIGOLD

For Auction  I have a Beautiful piece of Carnival Glass made by The Northwood Glass Company of Wheeling, West Virginia. The shape is a Basket and the pattern is "Diamond Point". This is the second time within the past few months to come across a Rare Piece of Carnival Glass to offer to the advanced collectors.  I had the good fortune of coming across an original "Chrysanthemum" Plate by Imperial Glass Company that was also Extremely Rare. The Basket measures 4 3/4" tall to the top of the handles and is 4 7/8" in diameter outside handles measurement. The diameter of the basket to the outer edge of the points is 4 1/4".

The Basket depicts a pattern of raised relief blocks in groups of nine Diamond Points. They are set on a smooth Background and the effect is similar to that of a quilt. The highest point of the raised relief is finished with a star pattern that resembles Facets in a Diamond. The basket sits upon four Block Style Feet and the look becomes complete with 2 large Handles. The color of this Gem is "Marigold" and the iridescence is on both the interior and exterior of the Basket and Handles. The iridescence is spectacular and you can see hues of Fuchsia, Teal, Blue, Green and Gold.

The Basket is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no nicks, chips, cracks or dings . There are straw marks on both of the handles which I have photographed for your viewing. These are very common to find on Carnival Glass but do not detract from its beauty. The piece is unsigned but it is in the books and guaranteed to be Northwood's "Diamond Point".
