A Beautiful Fabulous Original Oil Painting Signed by Charles Leickert.  This painting depicts a boat sailing through the open waterways of the Dutchland at Dusk, showing windmills and figures in a peaceful atmosphere. It also has a gorgeous baroque style frame. It was painted around 1851.

LEICKERT (1818-1907)- Charles Henri Jeseph Leickert was a Dutch landscape artist. He was trained with Bart Van Hove and Wijandus Nuyan, who then joined his most influential teacher, Andreas Schelfhout.  Leickert became one of the most talented and successful students of Schelfhout. In 1856, he became a member of Arti at Amicitae in Amesterdam.  He exhibited regularly in Amesterdam and The Hague between 1841 and 1887, and Leeuwarden between 1835 and 1887, when he moved to Mainz, Germany. He remained there for the rest of his life.

Leickert liked the style of unembellished landscapes near Dutch villages and towns. Moreover, he painted picturesque riverbanks, winter scenes with delicately executed skies and masterfully rendered ice.  His work is all over the world - it could be found mostly in the Dutch museums such as Rijks Museum; Amesterdam; Boymans-Van Beuningen; Rotterdam; Utvacht; and the Central Museum.
