Pair of Hand Carved Cantera Stone Mexican Monosor Statues


Hard to Find




Pair of carved "monos", Spanish for dolls or monkeys. Made of cantera marble which is found around the state of Jalisco Mexico. I bought these at an estate sale in Brentwood California around 25 years ago.

I had lucite stands made for them in Santa Monica, CA by the firm that makes lucite stands and display boxes for the Getty Museum. The stands have some scratching from the passage through time. One stand was broken apart in a cross country move and is missing an arm. It can be reglued and should still support the sculpture.

They measure approximately 14" tall and 6" wide.

Approximate shipping weight is a well packed 35 lbs.
