What a clever ornament! It gives you the power to allow Harry to enter Dumbledore's room. Harry stands in front of the gargoyle guard who is waiting to hear the password. You decide when that will happen. Here's what the box says about this ornament:

The password to Albus Dumbledore's office changes
from time to time--and is usually the name of a type
of candy of which Dumbledore is fond. Upon hearing
the correct password, the gargoyle that guards the
entrance will move aside, revealing a moving, spiral
staircase leading up to the office.

To hear Professor McGonagall say the password
and see the staircase spin, slide the lever on the
base of the ornament.
