You are purchasing a BRAND NEW PUBLICATION entitled Kansas City Street Scenes: Featuring KCPS PCC Streetcars.  The book was authored by Ken Davis, a Kansas City native and Benjamin L. Bernhart, author and respect rail historian. 

The book is a soft cover lansdscape perfect bound publication containing 64 pages of amazing old images of Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas.  The photographs date between 1944 and 1956.  There are 72 full color images and 37 black & white.  This is not a roster book of PCC streetcars, but a publication which depicts the cars in action along the streets of Kansas City.  Sometime the background (the "street scene") is more interesting then the streetcar itself.

PCC streetcars began roaming Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas in 1941 and forever dramatically changed the local "Street Scene." Before the arrival of the PCC cars, the average age of the traditional trolley cars operating on the Kansas City Public Service was thirty-two years. The PCC cars brought Kansas City streets out of the "Cowboy" era and into the "Space" age. The sleek new aerodynamic style of the PCC cars matched that of the popular sporty Detroit automobiles. As a child, author Ken Davis was awestruck by the beauty and "modern-isms" of the PCC cars. Graciously Mr. Davis has shared his knowledge and personal memories in this publication. Respected transportation historian, Benjamin L. Bernhart provides a brief, yet very informative, history of the KCPS PCC streetcars. This book will surely bring back memories of the Kansas City "Street Scene" during the late 1940s and the early 1950s.
