A very fine and scarce Uriarte dot signature jardinière

of imposing size. Marvelously decorated with

blue and white as well as polychrome glazes.

The small spotted birds are an especially charming

and unusual detail. The blue is thick and raised from

the surface with deep lustrous color.

Hand thrown and remarkably thin walled for

a ‘utilitarian’ pot of this size. Rim is slightly oval.

In very fine nearly as-made condition. No chips,

cracks, glaze loss or restorations. All over glaze

crazing typical of vintage talavera. This has darkened

with age more or less with two very dark short craze lines

that go over the rim and a long dark line (not continuous) that goes

into the interior but does not show on the outside.

These are all in the glaze and do not compromise the

ceramic body. When tapped the tone of the pot is consistant

all the way around. If cracked, it would clunk

when tapped which would become more noticeable the nearer to the crack.

The last two photos in my listing show

one of the short-over the rim-lines and the long interior none-continuous

line as well as an exterior photo of the same area.

As can be seen there are no corresponding glaze lines

on the outside to this interior line.

Very scarce with desirable Uriarte dot signature.

10” tall by 11 & ½” greatest width.

The identification and dating of Antiques and Decorative Arts is at times a more or less subjective endeavor. For a variety of reasons, one ‘expert’s’ results can differ from another’s. My descriptions are based on my researches and experience. The time to question these, is before bidding, not after. I go to great lengths to be as accurate as possible and to provide enough photographs to allow the buyer to exercise their own judgment. However, I cannot be responsible for differing opinions, when brought into play after the close of an auction. If you remain uneasy about an item I am listing, even after contacting me, the decision to bid will be your responsibility. I have regretfully had to ‘draw this line’, due to buyers who have attempted to back out of their purchase commitment, by interposing the ‘opinion’ of a non-substantiated third party. This despite the fact that the object was accurately represented and well photographed.

PLEASE NOTE: Items paid for by PalPal will be shipped within 3 business days of payment (if possible).I do not pack until an item is sold and cannot always run immediately to the Post Office to ship. I appreciate your patience.

ATTENTION DOMESTIC BUYERS: Ebay now requires that sellers provide shipping costs to buyers. As these charges can vary substantially depending on destination, I have chosen the option of providing dimensions and weight so that ebay can adjust these amounts regionally (shipping by USPS Parcel Post). As I do not pack items until they are sold (so that I can provide extra pictures, answer condition questions, and not have to un-box if the item doesn‘t sell) the shipping statistics I have provided ebay with are estimates. Furthermore, the resulting ebay estimates do not always include insurance or tracking (both required). After the auction, once the item is packed, at the buyer’s request, I will gladly re-calculate the shipping costs, including insurance and tracking by USPS Parcel Post and email the adjusted total to the buyer.

My scale is not calibrated to the Post Office scale, and the difference of an ounce can alter the cost of shipping by several dollars or more, up or down (the price changes at the first ounce over the even pound weight). I do my best to be as accurate as possible when calculating shipping, but cannot be responsible for any discrepancy between my scale and that of the Post Office. I do not charge extra for packing materials or handling. If you have any questions please contact me before paying by PayPal.
