Adorable old children's book with great photographs, EVERYLAND CHILDREN: Taro and Ume - Japanese Juniors and Christmas in Napan, by Lucy W. Peabody. Decorative drawings by Marjorie Woodbury Smith. Published by the Central Committee on the United Study of Foreign Missions, in 1926 Stories meant for children, with many quite compelling photogaphs of the children and people of Japan. Story is of two Japanese children. Contents include: Japanese Juniors - just like you, Taro and Ume, starlight kindergarten, going to Sunday school, Taro's promise, Taro goes on the ship, Plum Blossom in school, Taro wants to be captain, the friendship dolls, Christmas in Japan. Very, very charming book that is nicely done. There are about 17 black and white photographs, mostly of people and children, plus four very nice orange, black and white illustrations, as well as many smaller orange illustrations scattered throughout. Softcover, 4 x 7 inches, 60 pages (covers are heavy board), with orange and white illustrated end papers. In good condition.
