NiB Staywell Infra-Red Cat or Very Small Dog Door

I have a New in box Staywell 500 Infra Red Cat Flap which is one of the most technologically advanced electronic pet doors on the market. The Staywell Infrared door is one of the best doors for the money. It uses a small battery powered infrared key that hangs from the collar (battery is included).  The key is specific to your pet and the Staywell Infra-Red Cat Door. This means that other pets in the neighborhood with collar keys (magnetic or coded) will not be able to open the door. ( Keep in mind that the collar keys are water resistant NOT water proof so you may want to shrink wrap the key to keep it from getting dunked in your pet's waterbowl as they drink. )

. As the pet approaches the door from the outside, it unlocks from a distance of about 6" - 2' (the distance depends upon how bright the sunlight is. The darker it is, the further away the key will activate the door). and the pet can push the door open.

The electric lock only works when coming in. The pet can always go out, although there is a plastic knob that mechanically fully locks the door, locks it in one direction, or leaves it open for the automatic locking method.  You can program the release time from 2 to 20 seconds. This is the time that once detected the door will remain unlocked. If your pet moves close to the door (and it unlocks), but then fails to go through, it will relock after this period.

The door is made of clear hard-plastic and will hold up well to abuse. It's also easy to remove and clean.  A small magnet helps keep the door in the down position. The rest of the body consists of hard plastic and is well made.

 Since this pet door is self-framing, it may be installed in any door including solid or hollow core, metal, insulation filled etc. Adjustment range for the self-framing feature is 0" to 2".

The manufacturer believes that this pet door is suitable for cats to about 15 lbs. When used for a dog, threy suggest about 7 pounds max.
