do you know of a crafter with too FEW crafting toys? really? i don't.
the time has come for this crafter to buckle down and let other people have fun with some of these fun things, despite the fact that hogging all the toys is just the way things are. but, under the extreme duress, namely the lovely beast of burden, um, i mean loving husband, has rebelled against all the movable, portable, and otherwise clicking non-chair wooden things, which i call indespensibles. in his mind all that wood is good for cobbling together one big comfy lazy chair from which he can preside over his kingdom. i am sure he really meant that he dreamed of making a comfy lounge chair for his hardworking wife, but, as it often happens, a man of few words just can't express such passion in so many words, but i am sure he really means it.
so i decided to save these precious artifacts from an uncertain future and pass them along to better and safer hands, which would use them and create masterpieces to be admired by all.
here is a beautiful little table loom, vintage make, from the Baltics. it may have been meant as a child's loom, but the makers clearly did not make allowances for the challanges young age might present. i have made one piece on it and found that the longest warp it can take is about 3 yards or so, of yarn about 3-4 mm thick.
the harnesses are movable, the little knob on top makes them move. the heddles are rigid, but they can take any average thread or yarn (i used single ply yarn on the thicker side).
it comes with 3 shuttles and one metal rod. it is 15" by 14", with 82 heddles. the finished size of the piece i made was about 11.5".
it has no visible damage, it only has been used once and i have the original box. all wood construction.
my mother brought it from overseas. it was made somewhere in the Baltic republics.
let me know if you have any questions.
