Vintage L. E. Smith Depression Glass, Circa 1930's

Water Dispenser / Water Bottle / Water Server

Description follows the photos.

With lid in place.

I've provided plenty of pictures, so please be patient while they load. Then scroll up for a visual examination, as they are considered to be part of the description. Thank you.

This listing is for a vintage Water Dispenser, Water Bottle, or Water Server made in the 1930's.

The dispenser is in excellent, immaculate condition. A few different glass houses made these water dispensers. In Gene Florence's Kitchen Glassware of the Depression Years, an example of this Water Server shows L. E. Smith to be the maker.

The sides of the water dispenser are paneled with textured glass. The top and bottom, and lid are clear glass. The glass is quite substantial in that it is 1/4 inch thick. The spout is a shiny chrome.

The chrome spout turns easily. The chrome is in good shiny condition with a few use scratches. There are two green washers (one inside, one outside) that are soft and not dried out. I'm sure the fittings are brass as a magnet doesn't adhere. They are clean.
The Glass Lid: where the edge meets the jar, there are tiny flea bites. Also manufacturer bubbles, a light scratch and some straw marks.

The bottle has shelf wear on the bottom side. The top and sides have none. The round access hole at the top has a frosted flat lip, that has some roughness and some tiny edge fleabites (some look like manufacturer dings). Also a manufacturer mark in one corner on the bottom, about 1/4 inch by 1/8th inch. This may be a mold mark. There are no cracks, chips, or breaks.

Approximate Measurements:
12-1/2 inches at longest point including the spout
6 inches wide
5-1/4 inches at highest point

And weighs approximately 3 pounds 14 ounces without packing materials.

Due to the high cost of shipping, there are no returns with antique or vintage items unless there is a discrepancy in the description.  So please read the description and examine the photos and ask any questions before bidding. Thank you.

Please don't hesitate to contact me for additional information or photographs.

Thanks for stopping by.

GOOD LUCK!

Please contact me within 3 days to inform me of your method of payment. Payment should be made within 10 days of close of auction.

Please insert your zip code in the shipping calculator below to obtain the rate for your zone.

For items with many pieces, I'll usually add a packing fee and will always be noted it in the listing, and will not be reflected in the shipping calculator. This is just to cover the cost of yards and yards of bubble wrap needed to protect precious old glass or porcelain pieces. For single items, or depending on the size, it could be more than one item-I charge $1.00 for handling and that is reflected in the shipping calculator.

Other than the aforementioned, all shipping costs are weight based.
I usually list on Sunday night for 7 days, and ship the day after I receive cleared funds. If paid instantly the evening of auction end, then the item will be shipped on Tuesday. I send confirmation of mailing, so please save those emails.

There are two options in the calculator; priority mail and parcel post.  I have found, depending on your zip code,  priority mail may actually be less expensive than parcel post.

Please keep in mind that items are shipped promptly after payment is received, and that I have absolutely no control over arrival times.

International: Please contact me for a quote.
