*** Celebrating five intriguing reef dwellers, this stunning new series of pure silver proof collector coins begins with a release portraying the Lionfish. The Lionfish Pure Silver Proof is the first in the new and exciting Sea Life Series, to be released by the Perth Mint. Coins featuring the following marine animals are planned:

    Lionfish
    Leafy Sea Dragon
    Clownish
    Seahorse
    Moray Eel

***A  clever innovation (and cool bonus!) is the colorfully illustrated outer box shipper. When lined-up in release order, the outer boxes will form a panoramic image depicting all five reef creatures.

*** Obverse
The central color image depicts a lionfish making its full defensive display, with venomous dorsal spines erect and fins extended to ward off its enemies. Stylized waves form the background. The Perth Mint's "P" mint mark is judiciously hidden between fins at the 10:00 position near the rim. The legends define the theme: LIONFISH and AUSTRALIAN SEA LIFE - THE REEF.
***Reverse
Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II of England, in crowned profile facing right. This portrait, featuring Her Majesty wearing a tiara and pearl drop earrings, was executed by the sculptor Raphael Maklouf. The legend ELIZABETH II, the date of issue and denomination also appear. The legend 1/2 OZ 999 SILVER guarantees the weight and purity.


*** The coin is encapsulated inside a handsome taupe leatherette, clamshell-style presentation case, lined with black velvet and satin, and protected by a full-color outer box. An individually-numbered certificate of authenticity is included. Only 10,000 mintage.
