This is a black, wooden plaque that has the ship's seal. The seal is raised. The shield depicts a sword with ivy, the number, "41", and a ship's profile with 2 aircraft taking off.
It measures 10 3/4" x 12" x 1 1/2" and weighs about 4 pounds.
It is in fair condition. Some of the paint is chipped off on the edges.
The back includes a metal wall hanging piece.

The USS Hornet Museum is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with the goal of inspiring people of all ages to experience naval history, science, and space technology first-hand. The USS Hornet aircraft carrier is docked permanently at the former Naval Air Station in Alameda and is open to the public daily from 10:00am to 5:00pm (gate closes at 4:00pm).
