Bidding has ended on this item. Item:US WORLD WAR TWO M4 BAYONET BY AERIAL CUTLERY (ACC) |
|
|
For auction is a US M4 Bayonet as made in World War Two by the Aerial Cutlery Company of Marinette, Wisconsin. Overall condition of this bayonet is Good to Very Good. The blade has about 60%+ of the original Parkerizing, with normal wear and use marks. Please view the photos which show the condition in more detail. The 6 square groove leather grips are decent, showing again normal wear and use. There is a fairly large and deep scratch. It is not deep enough to compromise the integrity of the leather and there is no danger of the washers coming off. The latch plate is marked with the intertwined SP of Standard Products (Port Clinton, Ohio) who produced almost all the latch plates used during WW2. It has a very nice starburst peen, and has the early removable latch pins with the proper slots in the rear spacer, showing production prior to February 1945 when the specifications were changed to permanently staked pins. This is one of the hardest maker marks to find in the M4 series. Aerial only used the A.C.C. mark for a fairly short time before switching to the more commonly seen AERIAL mark. This is an early M4, probably made in the first month or two of production. No scabbard came with this bayonet when I got it. I will put it in a M8A1 just for shipping, the condition of the scabbard is fair only, so don't count it as part of the value when you bid. If you are looking for a unused specimen, this is not it. If you are looking for an honestly used bayonet which has the look of having "been there and done that", this might be what you are looking for. Over the next several months I will be selling edged weapons from my reference collection, many of which were used to illustrate the Bayonet Points articles that I wrote on http://www.usmilitaryknives.com/bayonet_points.htm. If you are interested in good honest US bayonets, check back regularly as I decide which pieces from my reference collection to sell. All are absolutely guaranteed to be as described and I will illustrate them with good photos. NOTE: I will mail this item via USPS Priority Mail for $7.00 , including Insurance and delivery confirmation. Sales will be made only in the USA, please do not ask for me to make an exception! I require payment by PayPal. The winning buyer will be notified by email, and payment is expected within 3 days unless other arrangements are made with me. Please use the eBay checkout as this allows me to generate the mailing label without problems. Items not paid for under the terms above will be relisted and an unpaid item report will be made to eBay. Please be aware this is simply a sideline with me and I have a regular job and other responsibilities so I cannot always answer questions immediately. The time of day I receive notice of payment will affect when I can get the item in the mail. Please bear with me, but I do try to ship within 24 hours when possible. This item is sold as a historical and collectible item only. The item is warranted by the seller to be as described and shown in the photographs. No guarantee or warranty is expressed or implied as to the usability of the item for its original purpose. The buyer, by placing a bid, certifies that he or she is of lawful age and is not prevented by any law from the purchase or possession of this item. The buyer is responsible for knowing, understanding and obeying all Federal, State and Local laws concerning the purchase and possession of this item. |
