Vintage Embassy Spyglass Telescope Navy Military

You are viewing a Vintage Embassy 4 Tiered Telescoping Spyglass made in Japan. It was recently found at a Boston, MA Estate.
It measures approximately 6.75" closed and 18.5" fully extended. I'm not sure of its exact age but my research suggests it may be from
the 1940's. I also learned that these types of spyglasses were primarily used by the Military, especially the Navy, during WWII.
Naval officers would use them on board to spot enemy ships. I can't say for sure that this was the use for this particular spyglass
but it is one possibility. I'm not an expert on this type of collectible so I will do my best to describe it and will post multiple photos
to help show condition. It is in its exact found condition and has not been restored by me in any. I am selling it As Is, No Returns.
Engraved on the black metal lens casing is EMBASSY 30X40mm JAPAN with a circle k. It was found in its original pebbled black
leather & red felt case which is included in the auction.

Condition: It appears to have a pebbled black leather wrap on a metal body...this wrap is in nice shape showing just a few tiny
pinpoint white specks on it. Not sure if these are nicks in the leather or specks of white paint. Some of the black paint on the
metal piece on the end of the body has rubbed away. The silver telescoping sections look nice with very subtle surface scuffs/scratches.
I'm not sure if this material is aluminum or stainless steel? The plastic eyepiece is in excellent shape.  The glass lens is intact and appears free
of cracks or scratches. I do notice some dust underneath the outermost glass covering which suggests that it may need cleaning. The glass
in the eyepiece looks to be in good shape too. Being unfamiliar with spyglasses, I did attempt to use this piece. I was able to get it to
focus in nicely on some trees and a building in the distance outside my window. I can't guarantee that it is in perfect working condition
but it did seem to work well when I tried it. The snap down black leather with red felt case w/carrying strap is in very nice shape showing
only very minor wear from use & age.

This Embassy Spyglass would make a nice addition to a vintage spyglass/telescope collection. It will be very carefully packaged to ensure
