Description: Originally printed in 1866, just after the conclusion of the American Civil War, this FIRST EDITION was published by SS Scranton of Hartford Connecticut in a green cloth over boards with ornate gilt illustrated front cover. See image for damage at the tail of the spine, a closed tear, and major chipping at the head of the spine. Corner bumping and light foxing throughout. Both covers are loose, but holding. Book block is still tight. An ex-libris sticker was removed from the front paste-down page at some point. A scarcely found Civil War book in ANY condition. Add this rarity to your Civil War library!
