This versatile "greenville-design" car quickly grew in popularity.  After World War 11, numerous railroads purchased Greenville-style mill Gondolas and this design became the unofficial industry standard for more than 20 years.  Wheather in original or modified form, many of these cars lasted into the 1970's and some were still in revenue service as late as the early 1980's.
