The Cape Cod Lighter by John O’Hara This is a collection of 26 short stories or novellas by the respected American writer John O’Hara. He was known both for his writing short stories as well as novels including Butterfield 8, several plays, some non-fiction and frequent columns in newspapers or leading magazines. The Wikipedia article on him says “he was particularly known for an uncannily accurate ear for dialogue. O’Hara was a keen observer of social status and class differences and wrote frequently about the socially ambitious.” These stories were written in his prime. Includes a forward by the author and a photo on the back cover by Gordon Parks. Published by Random House in 1962. 425 pages. First Printing. Book condition: good. Book jacket: very good encased in Mylar. This is a former library book so has a Story Collection designation sticker on the spine of the book jacket and of the book. There is a pocket inside. The book shows some wear on the top and on the corners. Binding is strong. There are no bent pages nor writing inside. |
