This trippy tribute to our country's 200th birthday was funded by a Bicentennial Project Grant and animated by Vincent Collins who made other psychedelic cartoons. This film was produced by the United States Information Agency -the government's propaganda agency.

Technicolor image of American flag flying accompanied by words and music of U.S. national anthem. Many theaters played the national anthem during WWII, and theaters on military bases still play it before every film today. The various services have always distributed such films free - they were used daily back when TV stations signed on and off, and found use when theaters hosted public meetings at which the national anthem might be appropriate as an opener.

Patriotic montage of scenes accompanying performance of U.S. national anthem as sung by Fred Waring and His Pennsylvanians. The folks at Fox Movietone News had put this great film of the National Anthem with the words at the bottom. Made for the 1942 audience, this version helped keep their patriotic spirits up. Well done.

Film 5: "Story Of Our Flag" (1938) B&W Runtime 10 Minutes

Follows the evolution of the flag of the United States from the colonial flags to the stars and stripes of today. Shows by animation the development of the western territories into the present states and how this development effected changes in the flag. Fun little historical film teaching us all we need to know about how the great flag sorta came to be, while omitting some minor points (Betsy Ross) this film offers some history you might not be aware of.
Having said that, this film probably wins the award for most use of stock footage ever.The best part is the end though,you see, the film has, uh, a couple of pieces missing, so the backward and forward moving flag AND the trunciated anthem made for a perfect ending.

Film 6: "Liberty" COLOR Runtime 10 Minutes

A very propagandistic American Gung-ho speech made by "liberty' about how wonderful it is to live in Amerca, and how less free, well, everyone else is.

This film clip documents the history and the wonders of the the Statue Of Liberty, from it's construction in Paris to it's unveilling by Grover Cleveland. Nice footage of people peeking out of Liberty's crown and some great aerial views of looking down from the torch.
And that's it! Pretty short and to the point.
