| Comfrey (Symphytum officinale). Perennial. Zones 3-8. This is a tall growing herb that has massive leaves. It grows, and grows, and spreads, and spreads... It has medicinal uses in which the leaves and the roots are used. Harvesting the roots is one of the ways to keep this spreader in check. The plant contains alantoin, a substance that increases cell division and healing so it is said to be good for healing wounds. It has been used to help heal broken bones by taking it internally, though caution is advised as it contains compounds that hurt the liver. It can be fed to rabbits, sheep, and goats, whose livers are unaffected by this compound. It is high in potassium, calcium, and protein and makes excellent fodder. It can be added to compost piles to get the decomposition to occur quicker. It's only draw back is how much it spreads. Plant it some place where you either can contain it or allow it to take over the world. The plant will grow in full or part sun, is not fussy about soil or moisture, and soil fertility should be high to encourage the most growth if used for fodder or composting. Do not plant it near foxglove, digitalis, because it looks somewhat like foxglove when it first comes up and confusing the two would be fatal. This is a multiple auction. You can buy one plant or 20 plants. Shipping will be combined for a shipping discount. May be combined with other of my plant auctions or seeds. A top consists of a large portion of storeage root and the foliage. Planted in soil, it quickly puts out new roots, just like horseradish and begins to grow and spread. Some will be potted up some will be dug the day they are shipped. I will ship whatever looks the best or what I have on hand at the time. I'll try to honor any requests as to which you prefer but there is no guarantee. All native soil will be washed from the roots before shipping or potting. The potted ones will have most of the soil media removed to lessen the weight for shipping. The roots will be wrapped in moist paper towel and plastic. The box will be filled with paper shred to protect the plants from cold or heat. I have shipped plants in the winter from NY state and have had them go to their destinations, even cold ones, and arrive in fine condition. The most dangerous place for the plant is sitting on your porch for a day so if you can arrange for someone to bring them into the house when they are delivered, they won't freeze or cook in the sun. I ship priority mail so the plants should arrive within 3 days. Instructions on how to help the plants recover from their journey will be sent with the plants. I guarantee live delivery of plants. In case the plant somehow becomes unsuitable for sale or shipping, I will notify the winner and make arrangements for another plant, type of plant, or refund. The care you give them determines if they survive and thrive and there are no returns on the plants. Any refunds made will exclude the cost of shipping. I do combine shipping costs for multiple wins because shipping is so expensive. Each additional plant auction is an extra $1.00 and seeds ship free with plants. Malas ship free with plants. Seeds ship free with malas. Folks, please, please, please, if you plan on buying multiple items, please wait for my combined invoice. Ebay automatically sends individual invoices for each auction won/purchased. DON'T PAY FROM THEM IF YOU HAVE MULTIPLE WINS. I get charged for each transaction from Paypal as well as I spend a lot of un-necessary time trying to sort out the overpayment of shipping charges and giving refunds. Starting now, I will refund the over payment of multiple shipping MINUS a $2.00 fee for the work of figuring it out. I am a one person business and it slows down getting orders out if I have to do a lot of needless extra work and pay for paypal fees as well as giving refunds. I don't want to have to resort to not giving the refunds. Yes, shipping is very expensive. What I quote is my best guess and I will refund the difference if the actual cost of shipping is significantly less than what buyer paid. Please NOTE: I do not ship plants internationally, domestic shipments only and not to Arizona, California, or Hawaii Check out my ebay store over the next weeks for more plants and seeds. I also sell Buddhist prayer beads, full malas, hand malas, and tribal jewelry from semi-precious gemstones and stones, and worry beads. I am licensed by NYS Ag. & Markets and my plants are inspected on a regular basis by this agency. I will gladly answer any questions you have about this auction or growing this plant. I want you to have as much fun as I do growing them. Thanks for looking.
