Coupled Device)?
When it comes to high-tech consumer electronics, there's
often a misconception that digital is better than analog.
Although this may be true in certain aspects, when it comes
to film-less cameras, you would want to buy a camera featuring
optical zoom rather digital zoom. This holds true if the
camera is a Charge Coupled Device (CCD) camera, simply because
CCD image sensor technology is widely used in the scientific,
professional and other industries and communities where
superior image rendering quality is demanded.
Why are CCD cameras better? The CCD technology was invented
in 1969 at Bell Labs for the purpose of building a camera
phone and, the technology was primarily created for imaging
purposes. The captured image stored in a CCD sensor is in
analog format then later converted to digital format using
analog to digital converter (ADC). As a result, every photoreceptor
in the array is equivalent to one pixel; it is the pixels
that make up an image using the most direct form of information-analog
signals (all visible lights are in analog signal) thus the
result of high quality imaging.
This is why a camera with analog zoom lens drives better
close-up images than digital zoom lens simply because analog
signals are the fundamental makeup of the virtual world.
Take a CCD camera with an optical zoom lens for example
and compare a CMOS digital camera with digital zoom in the
same pixel size category and every major features are comparable;
you will only find that the CCD camera renders far better
picture quality than the CMOS one.
Unfortunately, most digital still cameras nowadays are CMOS
sensor cameras because they are cheaper to produce (using
less components to build) and the quality for the past few
years is catching up with CCD sensor cameras. But when you
come across some of the higher-end professional grade digital
still photo devices, you will find that they will always
be in the CCD category. NASA has been using CCD for their
space programs for years and one wonders why?
CCD sensors have been mass-produced
for a longer period of time, so they are more mature. They
tend to have higher quality and more pixels.

Return Procedures
Please contact us before sending the item
back to get a Return Authorization Number
or R/A #. All items MUST be returned directly
to us after this process. Merchandise must
be carefully packed to prevent any losses
or damages during the shipping process. Merchandise
must be sent back in the original packaging
with the original packing slip and displaying
the appropriate R/A number. R/A numbers are
only valid for ten (10) days from the date
they are issued to you. Returned packages
which do not display an R/A number or which
display an invalid or expired RMA number will
not be accepted, and will be returned to the
sender. Unfortunately, Shipping Charges that
you paid are not refundable and you are responsible
for return shipping. Refund may take up to
30 days from when the item is returned.
