This auction is for an original first Mono pressing of The Beatles infamous self-titled double LP album, known affectionately as the white album.

INCREDIBLY low number... numbered 0068212.

Twenty million copies of this album have been sold since its release in December 1968 with two million sold in the first week, so to find such a low number is a real rarity. Almost certainly picked up within a couple of days of its release. The top opening gatefold sleeve is one of the nicest I have ever seen in all my years collecting beatles vinyl. The spine is completely intact and the sleeve retains a lovely clean white colour with a very minimum of wear. Vinyl is in used but very nice condition (see below) with first press matrix numbers and low numbered stampers. As is common with many white albums of this period it has labels featuring 'An EMI Recording' (Side one and two) and omitting an 'An EMI Recording' (Side three and four). Comes with original pictures, very rare photo spacer, large poster and black inners - all in great condition. So in summary a really great condition complete Beatles white album. A great gift, investment or collectable.

Sleeve: EX (original Garrod and Lofthouse wide spine gatefold sleeve is in fantastic condition with very little wear)
Vinyl: VG/EX (side one and two are very good with numerous hairlines and some minor background noise, sides three and four are excellent with very few hairlines, both discs play with nice mono sound and some minor crackle in quieter places but no pops or skips)
Pictures: EX (all four beatles pictures are present and in nice condition, complete with rare photo spacer)
Poster: EX (poster has some wear and tear along the edges but is generally a nice copy)
Inners: VG+ (original black inners are in nice condition)

Record Collector Grading System

• MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
• EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
• VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
• GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
• FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
• POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
• BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
