VINTAGE IRISH TENOR, SKIN HEAD, GREAT TONE

 

This 4-string, 18-fret, openback banjo is ideal for Irish or Klezmer music.  It is a “no-name” but it looks and sounds remarkably like a Vega Little Wonder.  It has the same type of spun-metal tone ring, thick maple rim,  and multi-ply neck with a double-cut peghead quite similar to a Slingerland.  It has been refurbished and is in tip-top condition with a brand new skin head.  All the hardware—including an Elite tailpiece—is nickel-plated and appears to be original.  The friction tuners are tight and hold the strings in tune even after a vigorous session and the frets are in super shape.  This one is ready to play and will hold its own with any group or in any jam session.  Our guess is that it dates from the 1930s. 

 

Email if you have any questions.  Shipping with insurance in the continental US will be $25, elsewhere at cost—probably around $35 to Canada and $40 US to the UK or Europe.  There is no case for this banjo but it will be carefully packed.
