Hardcover;  textured reddish- brown cloth; stamped decorations in black; gold lettering; beveled edges. Floral end papers. Frontispiece engraving with tissue-guard. Five additional steel-engraved portraits with tissue-guards. Eight wood-engraved portraits.  500 pages including Index of Biographies. Size: 71/4 x 81/2".

Light wear to edges of covers. Corners are rubbed and lightly frayed. Tiny splits to cloth at spine ends. Binding is tight and square.Foxing to tissue-guards and adjacent pages; otherwise clean and free of foxing. Very Good++ condition.

Biographies of women connected with the Universalist Church. This included Clara Barton and a number of ordained women ministers.

An interesting history! Beautifully engraved and bound.
