This charming old book of the traditional fairy tales belonged to my aunt, who passed away at 86 several years ago. It is in amazingly good condition for its age with a 10" x 12.25" red cloth bound cover and a paper cover affixed on the front. The back is blank red cloth. The publisher is The Platt & Munk Co., Inc., New York and is the first of their "Star Editions. It was edited by Watty Piper. Its pages are un-numbered but total 100+ and is printed in arge print for young readers. The fairytales are richly illustrated mostly in color but with some depictions in black line drawings. The illustrator is not identified but these are typical vintage illustrations of the day. There are some faint pencil marks on 4 of the pages--these can easily be erased. Many of these fairytales became the basis for Walt Disney movies of the 1940's and 50's. THis book has resided in a glass front bookcase in a smoke free home.most of "its life". It does not have any odor to it,that is, no musty odor that some old books have. The fairytales included in the this collection are: Little Red Riding Hood The Story of Peter Pan Jack and the Beanstalk Dick Whittington and His Cat Cinderella Sleeping Beauty The Three Bears Puss in Boots Tom Thumb Snowdrop The Frog Prince The Babes in Wood The Goose Girl Email with any questions. I do not end my auctions early and I do not charge a handling fee. |
