IT DOES MORE THAN SECURE THE MINI HD YOU CAN INSTALL IN THE CASE. THAT'S RIGHT... THE CASE HOLDS A MINI LAPTOP TYPE HDD. 

ACCORDING TO THE DESCRIPTION (ALTHOUGH A LITTLE CRYPTIC) IT CAN ENCRYPT AND SAVE DATA ON YOUR COMPUTER AND ONLY GIVE ACCESS ONCE YOU SWIPE YOUR FINGERPRINT. 

IF I'M READING THE MANUAL CORRECTLY IT CAN ALSO REPLACES THE TEDIUOUS TASK OF USING PASSWORDS AT WEB SITES.

IT DOES REQUIRE A 5 VOLT POWER SUPPLY OF SOME SORT. I INTEND ON USING A RADIO SHACK 4 AA BATTERY HOLDER WITH THE APPROPRIATE PLUG. I FIGURE IT'S YET ANOTHER LEVEL OF SECURITY. WHEN NOT IN USE I JUST UNPLUG THE BATTERY PACK AND STOW IT AWAY.

I'VE SEEN SEVERAL ITEMS SIMALAR TO THIS ON EBAY BUT COSTING ANYWHERE FROM $99 TO $169

I ONLY HAVE 28 OF THESE. SO BUY ONE (OR SEVERAL) BEFORE THEY ALL SELL.
