Listed By: INDIVIDUALType of Art: VICTORIAN CHROMOLITHOGRAPH
Technique: CHROMOLITHOGRAPHSubject: VICTORIAN
Date of Creation: CIRCA EARLY TO MIDDLE 1800SOriginal/ Reproduction: Reproduction
Size: 16.25” X 20.75”

ON THE NEW MARKET ROAD 1820 – Reproduced from an unsigned engraving published in 1825 by R. Pollard & Sons

Measurements are approximately:

  • Full in frame: 16.25” X 20.75” or 42cm x 39cm
  • Actual print or matted window: 10.25” X 13.75” or 27cm x 22cm

This is a stunning piece of art – I am putting 5 (in total, including this one) up for auction. So if you’re interested, check out my other auctions… These are NOT modern reproductions, they are OLD – well over a hundred years old, circa early to middle 1800s. They are in reasonable condition but a cleaning would make a difference to them. The frames which are some type of wood are more modern but still a few years old which are also in good condition. There is some wear to be seen on both the frame & art but it’s minimal.

I opened the back of the frame, & very neatly cut out & taped to the back is a little article about the subject matter. The article is entitled, "On The Newmarket Road, 1820". The article reads, "Newmarket has been a center for horse racing since before the end of the 16th century, & the roads leading there have always been crowded with traffic. The early years of the 19th century were no exception; from all classes they came, stirring up the dust as they gathered there by gig & private mount; in four-in-hand or on Shank’s pony, all inspired by a common interest in horses." Article states it's printed in England.

I will gladly combine shipping, but please wait for me to send an invoice after the auction is over (if you have won multiple items) - depending on what and how many items you have won I may need to put everything in a bigger box which will raise shipping costs - but I will do everything I can to make sure your shipping costs are as low as possible. I ship priority flat rate because it's usually the least expensive method.

I will also happily ship internationally, generally I ship global priority flat rate because it's usually the least expensive method - it's the same rate no matter what country I am shipping to. If you prefer another method, please email me, but again usually this is the cheapest way to go...

This comes from a smoke free home.

Feel free to email me with any questions, concerns, comments, etc that you may have I will make every effort to answer your questions completely and as quickly as I can. Thanks again for your interest and happy bidding!!! :)
