Judging by the condition of some of the reels that I have bought over the years and also by the number of

"Can you fix it for me" calls that I receive, buying a used fishing reel can be a gamble.

Is it what you think it is and will it work as it should?

I search the world for reels to further my own personal collection and then sell a few to finance more buying.

I also search for parts to fuel my passion for servicing vintage reels, this allows me to fulfill my pledge,

I will sell you a reel that will work well, guaranteed. I take the chances, you don't have to.

For auction this week a

Mitchell 300A

Basically this is a 300 with a slightly higher gear ratio, 4.2:1 and a gasket

between the body and side plate. There were many slightly different versions of 300A

produced by Mitchell from 1977/78 right through the 80's & 90's

The serial number is H202139 dating it to 1978.

Mechanically

This reel is in perfect working order, it's ready to fish, just add line.

Silky smooth and very quiet to wind, good crisp bail return and the

ticking optional anti reverse locks as it should when it's engaged.

Visually

The paint work is very good, just tiny marks on the foot.

The information band on the rotor is very slightly damaged but it is still perfectly clear to read.

The silver paint is excellent on the Garcia Mitchell 300A name plate.
