GIOS "Professional" Road Bike. The frame is stamped 63cm and is for a taller rider about 6'-3" to 6'-7" in height. Top tube length is a standard 58.5cm. This frame was repainted professionally in the mid 90's. Color is Pearl White with Torino Blue panels under clearcoat. These are traditional GIOS colors which look fantastic but are rarely seen as most were painted the GIOS Torino Blue. Condition of bike is "Good to Very Good" or 7+ for it's age. Excellent would be something that was never ridden and kept in the living room to look at. Rear brake cable is routed through top tube so it was considered "aero" for it's time. There are a couple small chips in clearcoat as well as a small dimple which you cannot see on a photo aproximately 2-3mm which is hardly noticeable and inconsequential. There is also a small brazing blemmish under downtube where it meets the head tube (consider it an Italian sign of handmade workmanship!). None of these issues will show up on photos and have to be searched closely to see, but I want to address all. The Bike will come with the original chrome GIOS fork which is in very good condition. I also have a virtually new carbon fork shown in photo (Carbon with CroMoly steerer) Seatpost is carbon. This is a complete bike with a full Dura Ace 8 speed brake/shift lever and set-up. Deraileurs are updated 7700. Brakes and Crank are Dura-Ace as well. The crank pictured is a TopLine 175 available seprately in another listing. The Crank which is included is a period correct Dura-Ace 170. One of the brake-barrel adjusters is not original Dura-Ace but looks and works perfect. Two Torino Bue water bottle cages will be included (one has chips the other is perfect). Bars are dark grey Modolo and are 44cm wide to accomadate larger riders. Wheels are Shimano RH-540. Tires are new. These RH540 black wheels lare very strong and look great with the black bars and black tape. If you are a tall rider looking for a tremendously comfortable, steel Italian ride then this may be your opportunity to grab what many believe is one of the best frames to have been made in Italy during the time. I am selling as I have too many bikes and am being pressured by my spouse! Buyer pays shipping which will be about $100.00. I will pay shipping for "Buy It Now". Bike and wheels will be shipped in two seperate cartons to ensure safe transport. Bike will be taken apart to facilitate safe, economical shipping. |
