Jack "the King" Kirby, often in collaboration with Stan Lee, created some of comics' most enduring characters: the X-Men, Captain America, the Incredible Hulk, and the Fantastic Four, among others. In the process, his visual language--his pencilwork, grammar, and style--changed comics forever. This beautiful book, put together by a longtime friend and colleague of the master, explores Kirby's legacy, allowing his images to make many of the arguments. Rare, autobiographical strips shed light on the artist's childhood: "Street Code" contains a New York street scene drawing as detailed as a Hieronymus Bosch painting. With an introduction by Neil Giaman.
