Synopsis
John Lee's first foray into the psychology of modern men, FLYING BOY, is the first of three intensely personal accounts of his failures in relationships and his history of abandonment in the face of emotional intimacy. In a heartbreaking but ultimately hopeful account directly inspired by the theories set forth by Robert Bly, Lee explores a childhood in a violent home with an alcoholic and unresponsive father. Never properly having a chance to vent his anger, he repeatedly enacted his history in a series of dysfunctional liaisons with women. In what would later become an important therapy prescribed by the Men's Movement, Lee boldly explores his past and finds the voice to release his bottled-up grief and rage.
