A reserve price is the minimum price the seller will accept. This price is hidden from bidders. To win, a bidder must have the highest bid and have met or exceeded the reserve price.
We sold many of these fabulous color plate prints several years ago, and somehow just overlooked the remainder of them until recently. We rediscovered the portfolio folder, and are now offering the remainder in several small groupings.
These are absolutely gorgeous botanical prints, rich in historic significance, especially now almost 100 years later. I wonder how many of these species still exist within New York's boundaries?
Seven antique color plates from the acclaimed antique Wildflowers of New York, University of New York State Museum portfolio, Memoir 15, dated 1921. According to the Journal of the New York Botanical Garden Volume 22 (published January 1921), these prints are: "printed in color, reproduced from photographs taken by Dr. Homer House, State Botanist".
Remember these photographs were taken in the very early 1900's -- long before color film was available, so the plates were obviously hand-colored before printing.
These are loose, individual 9 x 11-7/8 inch prints, which are part of an original 264 plate portfolio. The portfolio folder is shown in a photograph below, which houses all remaining prints.
Each plate is numbered, and bears both the common and scientific names of the species. The plates in this auction are:
Plate 92, (Split-Plate), Common Five-Finger (Cinquefoil) &
Silverweed (Goose Tansy).
Each plate measures 9 x 11-7/8 inches. Slight age yellowing around edges. No stains, no markings.
(Portfolio binder is not included.)

~*~*~*~*~*~* About Glory & Grace Auction Listings
Unless otherwise stated, ALL our items are authentic vintage or antique furnishings, linens, books, sewing items, and/or glassware, obtained from nice estate auctions across several states. We work relentlessly to insure that all our inventory is cleaned, maintenanced and acceptable for our customers. However, these items have endured many years of household use, and on rare occasion an item may have embedded odors which we can't determine due to working with them day in and day out. We also use wood heat during the winter, so if you have an aversion to that, then PLEASE don't bid then ask us for a refund later! We consider it a blessing to offer you these wonderful old pieces, most of which saw continual daily use, and all of which surely would have many amazing stories to tell us if they could!
~~PLEASE know we are Not overcharging you on shipping! Most of our items are shipped via USPS Priority Mail. The USPS has once again increased their rates, AND decreased the size of their 'small flat rate box'!
These photos show the old "Small" flat rate box on the bottom (it is now their "Medium"), and the new "small" flat rate box is on top (it was formerly the dvd/video size). In addition, USPS now charges based not only on weight and zone, but also on dimensional size of packaging, just as the other carriers do.
eBay now charges sellers based on our "DSR ratings", so please, don't penalize us, or any eBay seller, for excessive shipping unless it is truly excessive.
We DO NOT pack with walmart bags and newspaper! You entrust us with the safe and secure delivery of your items, and we do all possible, including AMPLE packing materials. We use biodegradeable, cornstarch peanuts and clean, fresh new bubblewrapping, acid free tissue and boxing. Due to the continual rising costs of these items, we've been forced to institute a very small supply fee to help offset a small portion of the costs of packing peanuts, bubble wrapping and/or foam encasing ~~
We always attempt to have concise, accurate descriptions and clear, accurate photos, however my photography skills aren't exceptional, and (contrary to my liking), I do not know everything about everything. If the photos or description leave a question in your mind, please email one of us, and we'll answer you as quickly as possible.
There are rare times when the occasional large furniture item will require additional packing materials, and if additional charges for those materials is necessary, that will be plainly stated within the listing. There will be no surprises at checkout. I am prompt with providing your shipping options and charges.
Pursuant to our Standing Policy regarding Buy It Now, auctions remain open and available to all bidders until the Buy It Now transaction has been completed.
Payment is due within 3 days. We do not have a return policy, as we have never had the need for one. However, effective October 10, 2008, in the event of an item return for any reason, or for relisting due to non-payment, a restocking fee of 20% will be deducted from your refund.
If we have not heard from you within 3 days from the end of the auction, we reserve the right to relist the item.
We Normally Ship On Tuesdays And Fridays. PLEASE NOTE that larger items, ie. sewing machines, cabinets, benches, windows, etc. do take extra time to prepare. We don't have space to stock boxing and palleting materials, and must purchase them as needed. The palleting and boxing process is not a simple one, as we frequently have to literally build the carton and cut to size the palleting to fit your item. Please allow up to 10 days on large items. When your item arrives safely and intact, we know you'll agree it was worth the short wait! GLORY & GRACE IS HONORED TO SHIP TO APO Addresses! Rest assured that our packing and shipping procedures are second to none! Whether it be vintage glass salt and pepper shakers or an antique treadle sewing machine, ALL packing is done in-house, not farmed out to some box store.
All glassware, pottery and dinnerware ships via USPS Priority Mail. Delivery Confirmation Tracking Information is included. Insurance is optional.
WE WILL SHIP INTERNATIONALLY! International Bidders, please email for shipping options and charges, or wait for the invoice before paying.
There is good reason for using only Priority Mail for fragile items: The less time in transit, the less likely your precious treasure will become damaged from being kicked across some loading dock! Priority Mail packages are shipped in separate trucks, and not subject to having heavier parcels or 70 lb. mailbags dropped on them. We have successfully shipped our glassware to all 50 states, Italy, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Australia, and Japan!
With over 30 antique treadle sewing machines and cabinets successfully shipped, we have the disassembly, tie-down, cushioning and boxing down to an art, which have survived all three major shipping/delivery companies! We may ship large items via Greyhound or Jefferson, which is usually days faster, much safer, and less expensive.

WE SUPPORT OUR TROOPS and THEIR FAMILIES! We know first-hand the added responsibilities, and the fear and pain of separation, AND WE THANK EACH OF THEM FOR THEIR DEDICATION, SERVICE AND SACRIFICES! Each package we ship contains a postage-paid mailer to "Cell Phones For Soldiers", enabling you to recycle those old cell phones which provides much-welcomed calling cards to deployed U.S. soldiers.
Payment is due within 3 days. We do not have a return policy, as we have never had the need for one. However, effective October 10, 2008, in the event of an item return for any reason, a restocking fee of 20% will be deducted from your refund.
