The2FunAdGuyz offer a new, high-quality reproduction print of a one of James Montgomery Flagg’s most powerful posters of this era. The poster shows a woman dressed in an American flag. She has her arms outstretched towards an ocean. At the bottom of the poster is the caption: “Bring back my boys!” The result is a simple, but almost overpowering image that hit hard at the emotions of having the sons of America far across the ocean and in harm’s way. This poster was originally published in Leslie’s magazine in 1919. It appears to have been done as a watercolor. World War I posters of all kinds—recruitment, war bonds and stamps are in a genre all their own. Artistry—not photography—reigned supreme. The reigning prince of illustrators for this period was James Montgomery Flagg. While his best-known work is the Uncle Sam wants you poster, Flagg actually did over 40 posters for the government as part of a group of New York artists who met weekly for assignments. He also was a popular illustrator for the magazines of the era. ![]() PAPER QUALITY: This new print is on a highest quality, acid-free, 100-pound glossy premium text paper that allows for maximum color brilliance and fidelity for older images.
