Movie description
Inspired by Oscar Wilde's classic play THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, WOULD I LIE TO YOU is a comedy about deliberate lies and mistaken identities. Paul has been made wealthy by the tech boom, but with his newfound riches, finds it difficult to meet women interested in anything other than his money. He decides to use an elaborate ruse for dating, posing as a regular guy named Ernest. Meanwhile, his buddy Guy, seeing the success Paul enjoys, begins using the ruse himself, setting his sights on Sophie (Samaire Armstrong, THE O.C.). However, when Paul meets Olivia, the woman of his dreams, he struggles with the problem of telling her his true identity, which is not made easier by Guy's endorsement of his deception. WOULD I LIE TO YOU marks the feature film directing debut of television writer Tom Sheppard.
