The material of this ball gown is old gold colored silkessence, it has an aged appearance. The bodice is lined with dark brown polished cotton, heavily steel boned and darted, hand sewn eyelets, back lace closure and hidden zipper and extensive handsewing. Fine white dotted batiste undersleeves beneath the wide sleeves. The embroidered design on the front bodice was copied from an original gown of the 1860's. The embroidery was entirely done by hand and tiny vintage glass beads were added as well. This has never been worn...new!
The skirt consists of two tiers, attached together at the waist. Eash tier is fully lined with ivory cotton. The waist is tighly gathered into the fitted waistband, which hooks in the back. Pure silk lace is handsewn to the deges of the sleeves and to each tier of the skirt.
Measurements are approximately: Bust 36, Waist 28, Length of skirt 44. Circumference of skirt is 160 inches. For best results, a hoop skirt of 125 inces or less should be used.
If requested I can email to you more photos of the back lacing and closeup of the embroidery.
