Yet his huge success as a TV comic was not limited to the UK, his TV shows became hugely popular in more than 80 countries from lran to Venezuela, from Brunei to Finland but more than this was the astonishing success and popularity of his shows in that traditional graveyard of the British Comic - the USA.
