1st US edition 1st print run hardback copy in very good condition on black cloth boards with gilt titles to the spine. The dustwrapper is excellent apart from a small tear to the top edge. Published in 1989 by St. Martins Press with 229 pages and many black & white photographs.

A fascinating biography of the road to international stardom of Alfred H Hill Jnr (born 1924) who started out as a milkman and after many years of unhappy struggling in the clubs, came to become such a success on TV that he had his own show as early as January 1955. Yet his huge success as a TV comic was not limited to the UK, his TV shows became hugely popular in more than 80 countries from lran to Venezuela, from Brunei to Finland but more than this was the astonishing success and popularity of his shows in that traditional graveyard of the British Comic - the USA.
