A complete practical treatise explaining the operation principles of all parts of the Ford automobile, with complete instructions for driving and maintenance. Also describes Ford Tractor and includes easily understood illustrated instructions on Ford repairing, based on actual experience of operating a Ford Model T from owners, dealers, drivers and repair men. Every phase of the subject is treated in a non-technical yet comprehensive way.

The Model-T revolutionized the American landscape, gave everyone from the farmer to the housewife the freedom to get out and see our nation at an affordable price. In terms of purchase price, operating costs, repair costs, and ease of use, no car before or since has met the excellent cost effectiveness and business ratios that this car had in all aspects of its existence.

This was, perhaps, the first, best, and indeed also … the last time Henry Ford truly showed his engineering genius fully and directly.

Henry Ford later in life, in the ww2 (world war two) era, had his reputation significantly marred by actively cooperating with and assisting the Nazi regime in manufacturing cars and trucks for them in Europe and in Germany. So crafty was this effort that Ford even managed to collect war reparations for his damaged plants from the US Government after the war was over!

He also wrote a rather controversial book that was highly anti-Semitic, which did not sit well with most folks as fair minded or rational in its accusations or analysis.

However, at the point of the Model-T, he was rational, alert to the market needs of America, and determined to make the best and most cost effective transportation the world had ever known. He did so, and it was called “the Model-T”.

I have been working with machinery all my life, have designed cars and engines, and I still learned tricks of the trade I did not know.

This book is one of those down-to-earth show-me-how books you wish was available for all parts of life. Alas this one just teaches automobiles and the Model-T … but that is a start, eh?

They are not joking on this one; I got my money’s worth in just learning that I no longer needed to buy expensive valve grinding compounds to get the job done. Now I mix my own, and save several hundred dollars a year in my shop!

My husband was astounded that I was able to wade in and understand how to work on his pride and joy Model-T with him this last weekend. I told him it was “obvious” and only after a weekend of working together did I admit to him I cheated and give him the copy of the CD Book I had printed out and had bound for him as a gift. He has read it cover to cover so many times that I am now reprinting it again to give him a copy that is not dog-eared and covered in grease prints! I am still not sure he loves me as much as the Model-T, but at least we are not in the running together for his affections! Best gift I have ever given him he said!

Thanks for the descriptions and explanations of the adapter kids and farm tractors I was able to recognize kits at farm estate auctions and procure myself a few gems to add to my Model-T collection. Without this book I would have passed on more unknown and musty old hardware. Thanks Rocketbrain!
