"DEEREST SANTA"
This With an over all length of 23 inches, this Santa and his Deer Friend would be a perfect focal piece for your mantel or cupboard.
Santa is an original, handsculpted figure that can be comfortable in the sled or out. His body has been needlefelted over a wire armature, making the kind old fella gently poseable. His boots, hands and gentle face are scultped from polymer clay, his smiling eyes are black glass and his luxurious beard is natural fiber sheep's wool. He is wearing a deep, rich burgundy robed coat, edged with handsewn off white trim.
The Deer is a fine fur fellow whose antlers have been covered with clay, painted and antiqued. He's got a nice little halter and reins & is free standing, rather than being attached to the sled forever and ever.
The sled is neat tin-type design with a nice greenish aged patina. In the back is a tree, adorned for Christmas with silver garland and antique mercury bead bobbles. The bag of toys include a hand carved sheep, a little wooden zebra, a handmade clay hobby horse, a wooden carved Santa,a neat little wooden lady with moveable arms & greenery with red berries. There's also a grapevine wreath adorned with red berries.
Santa is looking a little chilly sitting in there, so I'm thinking he's going to need a little blanket to cozy him up a bit. I shall hunt up something that will work for him & tuck it in there.
As always, the piece will come signed and dated, with a Certificate of Authenticity.
As I like to have my listings end consistently, I usually list on Sunday evenings. Since the one extra hour this week just wasn't enough to get myself together by then, this week's listings are just five days so we'll be done at the regular time on Sunday.
