Great salt glazed stoneware Munich Child figural character stein 1L - also referred to as the Munich Maid by some. Most of you need not be told that the Munich child has been the symbol of Munich for 600 years.
This stein is made by Steinzeugwerke in the very early 1900's. This is an imposing sized stein for a 1 liter because of the added heighth of the head. This is a very cool stein that I will hate to see go, but I am downsizing for personal reasons.
When I bought it there were 3 surface glaze flakes around the base of the cowl or hood near the pewter rim. I had daubed a little matching black enamel on them and they virtually disappeared - well I can find two of them upon close inspection. The strap has some play, but if you look at the photo it is a small one with hardly any tail extending on the handle. Otherwise, I can't say anything bad about it. Great shape minus those demerits. The stein measures 10 1/2" tall. Thanks for looking and even more for bidding!
