Background

 

The latest installment in PBS?s popular ?House? group of history series is Texas Ranch House. Texas Ranch House sends a family back in time to post-Civil War Texas where they experience the hardships and joys of running a cattle ranch. The family?s objective over the three month course of the project is to round up the 200 head of cattle and sell them at auction for a profit to keep the ranch afloat. In addition to the Cooke family ? Bill and Lisa, and their three daughters Vienna, Lacey, and Hannah ? there are a maid, six cowboys, and their foreman.

Episode Two

The Good, The Bad, & The Colonel

Original Air Date: 05/01/2006

While the cowboys are out rounding up the cattle, the women are learning about the drudgeries of domestic life on the ranch. As tensions come to a head, Mr. Cooke has to make some decisions regarding his ranch hands, and ultimately decides to fire someone.

 

Episode Three

The Cookie Crumbles

Original Air Date: 05/02/2006

The cowboys awake to another difficult day on the ranch as they discover that 10 horses have been stolen, horses they desperately need for the cattle drive. Food becomes a matter of contention between the vaqueros and the Cookes which leads to another firing.
