This is an order of service program for the dedication of the Chapel of "The most Ancient and most Noble Order

of the Thistle" which took place in St. Giles Cathedral Edinburgh on the 19th. July 1911.

Present, were  His Majesty the King George V and Her Majesty The Queen

16 page booklet  7.5 x 9.5 in. approx.

the original owner has neatly written in ink comments such as

choir, congregation, organ etc. and also the names of the celebrants,eg.The Very Rev.Dr. Donald Macleod etc.

The Order of the Thistle was founded in 1687 by King James VII of Scotland and consists of the Sovereign + 16 Knights.

Apparently it lacked a permanent home until this Chapel was dedicated in 1911.

Some slight creasing of back cover otherwise good condition for its age.

Interesting item, where will you find another.
