Here is a fairly nice US Military TA-312/PT field telephone with carrying bag and copy of the training manual made by contractor Kellogg Switchboard and Supply Co. Not sure of the exact date on this, but I believe it is an older one.
It is in working condition with ringing magneto that gives a strong output and corrosion-free battery case. I have used this both between field-phones and on a POTS line with adjunct dialer, and set for Common Battery mode. THE BAD NEWS, Please NOTE! The audio quality on this phone is crummy with weak voice and crackling!!! It works for field use, but other people complained when I used it as a standard telephone. I disassembled and cleaned all switch contacts, including receiver and transmitter contacts with no improvement. Still does the job however, but don't expect perfect performance.
Phone itself is in decent cosmetic shape with paint wear evident on bottom and edges, but it is not battered and filthy like some you find. Canvas bag shows abrasion on corners and bottom, but no holes. Shoulder strap complete.
A copy of the training manual included as you can see. Uses 2 D-Cell batteries for Local Battery operation, or +48 volts supplied by central office or switchboard in Common Battery mode.
Drop me a note if you have any questions, otherwise, buyer to pay actual shipping charges. PLEASE! Wait for me to invoice you after the auction ends, as shipping quotes given by Ebay may be considerably off if I messed up something, or have to repack the phone. Keep in mind, this thing is metal and very solidly built, so it is quite heavy.
Best Regards and Thanks!
