Jack Wolak's Rare Necessities Rare Necessities has been providing collectors with top quality new & used collectibles since 1975. After scouring the usual places --- garage sales, jukebox record dealers, second hand stores, radio stations --- we placed our first Goldmine (the collectors record marketplace bi-monthly magazine) ad in early 1976. In 1980, we started making quarterly trips through Europe (England, Holland, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Italy & France) in search of hard-to-find European releases. We also crossed the border into Canada on frequent buying trips. Specializing in 45 rpm singles with picture sleeves at the time, we have also acquired, along the way, the largest inventory of vinyl picture discs in the northeast USA. We produced catalogs 4 times yearly following our excursions, with a 15,000+ item yearly inventory catalog. We have been constant advertisers in Goldmine (receiving their yearly customer service award every year since its inception in 1987). We have new stock in monthly from the UK, along with domestic releases. Collectibles from Holland, Germany, Australia, Japan and other countries arrive less frequently, but nonetheless make up an important part of our inventory.Our 40 years experience in the business and thousands of satisfied customers guarantees your satisfaction. of our items, whether LP's, picture discs, 45 rpm singles, or CD's, are
STRICTLY GRADED. Sleeves are graded first, the record second (e.g. M- /
VG+). New records are listed as "New". Mint (M): New condition. Mint Minus (M-): Nearly perfect, a record with no obvious signs of wear, a perfect sleeve with no more than the most minor defects and signs of slight handling. Very Good Plus (VG+): A very good plus record will show signs that it was played, but was taken good care of by the previous owner. Record surface may show slight signs of wear or minor scuffs that do not affect play. Picture sleeves may have slight wear, lightly turned up corners. Very Good (VG): A very good record will show groove wear and may have a few vinyl imperfections which will affect the sound. Picture sleeves will show slightly more wear with perhaps a frayed top edge, ring wear or seam breakdown. Good (G) / Good Plus (G+): A good record will show significant wear and /or scratches, but will play through without skipping. It will have considerable surface noise. Picture sleeves may have seam splits @ bottom & spines, tape, writing, ring wear, stickers and other defects that will start to overwhelm the item. A good or good plus item is usually acquired to fill a hole in a collection until a better copy comes along.
