Set up time approx 10 to 15 to minutes.
Make sure your aquarium hole your drilling is not tempered glass. Call your mfg if you do not know. Most aquariums the only tempered glass would be on the bottom if any is used.
Common safety issues practice such as eye glasses, electrical connection/water don't mix etc.
Suggested drilling the aquarium outdoors with a hose supplying water during drilling. Drilling glass holes is very simple. DON'T BE FEARFUL BE Assured it is easier then you think and when your finished your going to say "He's Right!" Place a towel or board under the glass hole that will drop out once you have cut through your glass.
Place your pattern on the glass and tape it in place. You want the bottom of the teeth to be where your desired water line is going to be. This is your water line. Your water line during flow period will be approx 1/4" above the overflow box. Place your skimmer box in place and double check your pattern to your skimmer box. You should see the pattern fits the skimmer box.
With the drill on at about 50 RPM's enter the glass at a 45 degree angle. This creates a channel in the glass so that when you tip your bit to a 90 degree angle your bit doesn't skip all over the glass once it's at a 90 degree angle. Speed up to 150 to 225RPM's once you have made contact and the glass begins to be cut. After about 20 to 30 seconds tip your drill bit slowly upright to a 90 degree angle. What your doing is cutting a groove forming a circle channel. This is slowly done so you don't get the bit skipped on the flat glass with out a channel. Allow the drill bit to cut and don't apply much pressure. It should take approx 3 to 6 minutes depending on the thickness of your glass being drilled. Slow down once you are at the end of the cut just about to brake through.
Congratulations you have just cut a hole in glass. Go be a kid again, show your excitement and run around all happy....... It will be okay if anyone sees you.
Clamp your overflow box in place. You can either drill your bulkhead as in the video or you can take it out of the clamp after you have your hole started and complete the hole. *I was indoor and didn't use water for this process. You can use water for this outdoor. I was filming on an extremely windy day is why. After I started the holes I took the overflow box out of the clamps and drilled the holes. If you don't have clamps you can take a permanent marker and mark the hole pattern that the glass has on to your skimmer box and drill it just as you did with the glass.
Clean your aquarium and your overflow box up with water. Remove your pattern. You can place your aquarium on the stand now. Have your stand out from the wall approx 1ft so you have plenty of room to install your overflow box.
un-thread the bulkhead nut and take off the gasket. Place a small amount of Vaseline or silicone on the gasket (not supplied). Place the skimmer box in place aligning the bottom of the teeth of the box with the lower rim of the aquarium. Place the gasket inside the overflow box and put it on the bulkhead moving it down the threads. Your water height should run approx 1/8" to 1/4" above the skimmer teeth.
Thread the nut on to the bulkhead compressing the gasket on the bulkhead snug fit and then align your pvc "T" fittings at the 3 o'clock position and then turn it 1/4" to the 6 O'Clock upright position, so water tight seal is formed. Make sure the overflow box is level prior to tightening snug.
Hook up your PVC pipe to the "T" fitting outlet bottom in any fashion you need to your wet dry filter box etc....(PVC PIPE permanent is recommended VS flex hose. Less expensive too)
Stand back and enjoy your overflow box. When you fill your aquarium up with water check for leaks tighten bulkhead threaded nut tighter if needed.
6-3/4 x 2-3/4x5-3/4" approx.

Why can't the overflow box be on the outside? Because you want to skim the surface of your aquarium. You have a protein build up of film that will occur from stagnant water. This is optimal for removing this and other debris. Fish and other debris like plant leaves can clog your pipes.
Quiet, Small and compact skimmer box with minimal visual impact and optimal flow. The "T" fitting is a stand pipe design that is designed to QUIETLY drain approx up to 1200GPH. DID I SAY..... quietly? This is because the water draining down has the ability to mix in air with it eliminating pressure build up, Gurgle noise that is every 5 to 10 seconds on sponge design overflow boxes. Built so that this is drains with out resistance and is so much more quiet.
You don't have U-Tubes to prime. You don't have sponges or a venturi pump to contend with. 3 or 4 purchases of sponges will amount to the cost of this set up. Elegant black box with one piece front and sides to give it an extra beauty. Sleep soundly knowing you have a guaranteed overflow box that you don't have to worry about power failures and your U-Tube starting up. Once in place your set up it's permanently.

Common question: The bulkheads are wrong! Why did I put them in reverse. Ahhh....... Think about space requirements. Due to the minimal space in the rear of the aquarium ONLY 3" is needed. If the bulkheads were put in like reverse you would need approx 5+" of space in the rear of the tank.
I need only 1 bulkhead for 600GPH flow. Install 1 bulkhead and center it 1-1/2" from the bottom of the pattern.
