This five-episode documentary, first aired on British television and never broadcast in the United States, explores the richness and diversity of the British cinema, featuring a spectrum of renowned historical dramas, adventurous tales around the world, romantic sagas and the amusing films that reflect the unique British sense of humor. Included are excerpts from The Private Life Of Henry VIII, The Four Feathers, Things To Come, The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Jungle Book, Elephant Boy, The Divorce Of Lady X, The Thief Of Bagdad and Lady Hamilton.
Also here is rarely seen footage from the never released I, Claudius, directed by Josef von Sternberg. These excerpts from the lavish Alexander Korda production show all the signs that this film would have been a true classic.
