Synopsis
In this memoir, veteran journalist and broadcaster Mike Wallace looks back on the highlights of his 60-year career, recalling the people, places, and events he brought to the world audience, most notably on the ground-breaking television program 60 MINUTES, where his was the featured face and voice. Wallace recalls--and includes excerpts from--interviews with LBJ, Nixon, Eleanor Roosevelt, Nancy Reagan, and the secret service agent assigned to JFK's motorcade car on that fateful day in Dallas. He recalls his exposés of scandal, waste, and mismanagement of taxpayer money in Washington, as well as his fascinating sitdowns with deer-in-the-headlights spokespeople from America's great corporations. Wallace seemed especially happy when interviewing show business personalities, among them Johnny Carson, who rarely sat for interviews. A challenging and pointed interviewer, Wallace, along with his colleagues, perfected a new kind of journalism that was both serious and hugely popular, and won many Emmy awards. Here he gets to reflect on it all, showing his softer side but definitely getting the last word.

Publisher's Note
A memoir by the respected broadcast journalist shares a collection of personal reminiscences and anecdotes about his own life, the world of journalism, and the celebrities, newsmakers, criminals, and world leaders that he has interviewed during his sixty years of reporting, accompanied by a DVD containing key moments from some of his most remarkable interviews.

Industry reviews
"Though he can be pedantically thorough, Wallace's equally hard-nosed approach with presidents, crooks, celebs, and himself proves fascinating."
Entertainment Weekly  (11/04/2005)

This book is like new.  The included DVD has never been taken out of the sealed packet in the back since I purchased the book.

This would make great gift for anyone who remembers Mike Wallace or who enjoyed "60 Minutes" or any aspiring journalist.  This is a very good read and sure to satisfy those who enjoy historic interviews with world leaders, politicians or hardened criminals.
