Publisher's Note
A gang of socially ambitious skinheads runs riot through the London art world, plotting the rebirth and violent demise of an elusive avant-garde art movement. Taking genre fiction for a ride, SLOW DEATH uses obscenity, black humor and repetition for the sake of ironic deconstruction. The sleazy sex is always graphic and all traditional notions of literary taste and depth are ditched in favor of a transgressive aesthetic inspired by writers as diverse as Homer, de Sade, Klaus Theweleit, and '70s cult writer Richard Allen.

Industry reviews
"It's a Richard Allen pulp hologram that Stewart Home is impersonating. But impersonation is too weak a term. It is more like a willed act of occult possession."
London Review of Books - Iain Sinclair

"I...admit to enjoying the sex scenes in Home's 'Slow Death'. They were indeed the only things I enjoyed in an exasperating, childishly plotted, and naively motivated novel, in which characters relentlessly yelp, snort, concur, woof, and prate at one another....Still, the sex enjoyed by these latter-day dinosaurs is vigorous, inventive, and enriched by a reading of Karl Marx."
Times Literary Supplement - Robert Irwin (08/30/1996)

"Home wields the plot-driven prose and cookie-cutter sex of mass-market fiction like a switchblade, while his wooden characters mouth canny aperçus on class struggle, Rosicrucianism, and ska. The net effect lies somewhere between Debord and de Sade....[A]n excellent introduction to his corrosive sensibility."
