My guideline for grading records. Not all records will fit "exactly" into a certain grade, and one should assume a certain amount of tolerances within each grade. 

Grading is"visual" unless noted.  

+/-:  Pluses and minuses help indicate more or less issues in a certain grade.

SS Still Sealed - Never opened.

M- Mint Minus – Vinyl and / or Cover near perfect,

VG+ Very Good Plus - The Vinyl shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little deterioration in sound quality. The Cover shows some very light signs of wear but has very little deterioration and NO SPLIT SEAMS.

VG Very Good - a used, reasonable copy. The Vinyl will have obvious signs of wear including light / moderate surface marks and the possibility of light surface noise between tracks or during quiet passages, but still quite nice with no skips. The Cover will have obvious signs of wear including light / moderate overall wear. Additional comments about the Cover will be included. NO SPLIT SEAMS.

VG- Very Good Minus - The Vinyl will have significant wear and marks and usually quite noticeable surface noise but no skips. . The Cover will have obvious signs of wear including moderate / advanced overall wear. Additional comments about the Cover will be included. Any Seam splits will be noted.

G will fall below all the above and will have additional comments.
